Water Management Australia uses ultrasonic flow meters to accurately calculate flow rate measurement of numerous liquids including:
- Ultra-pure liquids
- Potable water
- Chemicals
- Raw sewerage
- Reclaimed water
- Cooling water
- River water
- Bore water
- Plant effluent
Accuracy
Accuracy is plus or minus 1% of the reading.
Pipe size
Water flow rate measurement pipe size can be 15mm-6,000mm.
Pipe materials can be:
- Carbon steel
- Stainless steel
- Cast iron
- Ductile iron
- Copper
- PVC
- Aluminium
- Asbestos
- Fiberglass
Pipes can also be lined.
Portable ultrasonic flow meters can be used clamped to the outside of a pipe without penetration to determine the water flow rate measurement.

Ultrasonic flowmeters use sound waves to determine the velocity of a fluid flowing in a pipe.
The industries we generally find require flow rate measurement are:
- Poultry farms & processors
- Oil & gas
- Water & waste water
- Power
- Chemical
- Food & beverage
- Pharmaceutical
- Metals
- Mining
- Pulp & paper
This proven technology is very accurate and is used for custody transfers for expensive fluids such as natural gas & petroleum liquids.
Ultrasonic flowmeters do not obstruct flow so they can be applied to sewerage, corrosive & abrasive liquids. Some ultrasonic flowmeters use clamp-on transducers that can be mounted external to the pipe and do not have any wetted parts. Clamp-on transducers can be used to measure flow without regard to materials of construction, corrosion & abrasion issues.
